So is this just another lame marketing technique, trying to get us to buy equipment we don't need or is there some substance to the Crosshair 4 Extreme? As a big fan of Crosshair 4 Formula and knowing what it is capable of, this board will need to do alot to impress me. Now ASUS have brought a new player to the market, the Crosshair 4 Extreme, with a bunch of new features to boot. It has had superior efficiency, superior performance and in all but some subzero scenarios has provided better clocking of AMD cpus. #Crosshair iv formula windows 10 ram speed seriesThanks for your time and responses.ASUS Crosshair 4 Extreme vs Crosshair 4 Formulaįor some time now the Crosshair Formula series from ASUS has been the premier board of choice for those pushing the AMD platform. I'm sorry for the long read and any typos (I'm on my phone) but I figured I would give the whole story incase anyone could help she's some light in this issue. So I figured I would try changing the ram. #Crosshair iv formula windows 10 ram speed installI out the 1tb in another of and was able to successfully install windows without an issue so I know the hd is fine. I have also tried another hd and still no luck. I tried every configuration I could think of ( 1 stick, 2 sticks all 4) to no avail. I tried over clocking the ram, changing the voltages everything I could find online and it still sees all of the ram but I still have the same issue. This one recognizes all 8gb of ram, passes the memory check, and I can tweak the ram in the bios without any issues. #Crosshair iv formula windows 10 ram speed how toNow like I said I know how to build pcs and have had many successful builds without any failures til now and every PC I have built that had a ram issue either would turn on, or not recognize the ram installed. Everyone says this is a ram issue because I don't have ram installed made for this board. Then it gets stuck in a boot loop and never completes. ![]() when I try installing any windows version os it loads the first part fine until it comes to the feat reboot. Now I can't get an os installed on this comp. So I continues to see if I could get it running. At the time this happened I called asus support and I would have had to give them a $500 deposit to exchange the board which wasn't an option for me. I detached the heat sinks and reapplied some arctic silver thermal paste and now the nb chip still reads high (70 degrees Celsius) but it doesn't power down. Well when the PC is on they all say normal yet the bios reads the nb chip to be overheating. ) and the all have 3 LEDs that say normal high and crazy I believe. Looking on the board there are leds that show the status of different components (ram, CPU, nb etc. After digging in the bios I found the reason to be because the nb chip was at 90 degrees Celsius on startup and would climb to 100 and the comp would power itself down as a precaution to prevent damage. ![]() The issue I was having is the pc would turn on for a couple minutes and then turn right back off. Here is what it consist of.Ĩgb of the corsair dominator gt memory (for Intel board)ĩ00 watt psu (forgot the brand all I remember is the box says current gamer) My father bought it all for himself and have it to me because he lost interest. Here is my original issue (because I don't believe I have a ram issue) this comp was originally to be a brand new build. My dad bought these sticks (even though he knew they are for an intel board) because they matched the mobo and he had read a lot of people getting this ram to work with some tweaking.Īs far as the poster who suggested the gskill ram thank you so much those look like exactly what I was looking for. I have 4 sticks total giving it 8gb of ram right now. The ram I have now can be found here they are the corsair dominator gt and the part number is CMT4GX3M2A1866C9. Therefore I'm not looking for a specific speed of ram just some that will work. ![]() Here's what I got for responses.Īs far as the speed of the ram, I know how to build pcs but never got that into the real technical parts of it like different speeds of ram and such so I don't even know what the different speeds do. ![]()
